The 2010 Europlatform conference will start at 10:30 on 16 September and finish at 17:00. It will be followed immediately by the Europlatform reception -- all delgates are invited to join the speakers and organisers for aperitifs. Craig Paylor is one of the best-known personalities in the access industry, having a distinguished 28-year career with JLG culminating in his appointment as president of the company. Craig is due to retire from his current post, but will remain engaged with JLG as a consultant.
Mr Araoz is a board member and COO of GAM, the largest equipment rental company in Spain. With a degree in telecommunications engineering and an MBA from Madrid’s Instituto de Embresa, Mr Araoz was formerly a partner at consulting firm Monitor.
Dr.-Ing. Marco Einhaus is a technical supervisor at the ‘prevention’ division of Berufsgenossenschaft Metall (BG Metal), a German public body that provides worker insurance and health and safety advice. Dr Einhaus is a specialist in areas including personal protective equipment, falls from height, scaffolding safety, nets and rope access. He is also a part-time lecturer at the Technical University Munich and the University of Applied Sciences.
One of the most experience journalists in the access and rental sectors, Murray was editor of Access International magazine for 10 years and is now managing editor of the title. He is also editor of International Rental News (IRN) magazine.
Malcolm Bowers is a highly respected veteran of the UK’s powered access market. He founded Aerials for Industry (AFI), spent time as a consultant to the Lavendon Group and is now a director alongside his son Ben at access rental firm Lifterz. Mr Bowers was one of the founders of the Access Link organisation in the UK.
Mr Dahms is a partner with LiftScout Consulting, a company specialising in providing consultancy services for the aerial platform sector in Germany. The company is also working with PartnerLift, the German re-rental alliance, to grow its membership. Oliwer also works with his father, Wolfgang Dahms, at AB Dahms OHG, a rental company which is also a member of the PartnerLift network.
Serving as Vice-President of Marketing for Volvo Rents (a subsidiary of Volvo Construction Equipment), which has 170 stores and 250,000 customers in North America, Europe, Asia and Mexico, Mr Mavrick’s marketing experience includes retail marketing, brand development, strategy and business development at major companies like Volvo, Intel and May Department Stores. His presentation will focus on Contrarian Marketing: Picking Customers Before They Pick You, which is also the title of his new book, to be published in late 2010/early 2011.
Mr Marriott is founder and managing director of Access Plus, one of the most innovative access rental companies in the UK. The company, which is based near Glasgow, has been a pioneer in the use of rental management technology among small to medium sized rental companies. Founded in 1999, Access Plus now employs almost 30 staff.
Mr Latief is director of marketing at A-Plant, one of the largest rental companies in the UK and part of the Ashtead Group. He has 12 years' marketing experience and joined A-Plant in 2002, and is responsible for A-Plant’s public relations, advertising, database management, direct marketing, events and exhibitions, telemarketing and market research.
Director of Operational Applications at A-Plant, Mr Wortley has more than 20 years' experience in the rental industry. He joined A-Plant in 2000 having previously worked for Sunbelt Rentals (A-Plant's sister company in the US), rental software specialist MCS, and a number of rental companies in the UK. Mr Wortley has been a pioneer in the introduction of mobile technology for field staff, including the recent launch of an iPhone application for A-Plant’s sales staff and managers.
Steve Shaughnessy is president of IPAF and president of Canada-based manufacturer Skyjack. He worked in the family business Shaughnessy Crane Service in the US and later ran its access rental division after returning from his studies in Ireland and Nottingham and a period of employment with British Telecom. He was later regional vice-president and chief operating officer of Chicago-based NES and in October 2004, he joined UK-based A-Plant as director of its access business. He was managing director of rental company Loxam in the UK, before taking his first step into the manufacturing side of the business by joining Skyjack and crossing the Atlantic yet again.
A former jounalist, editor and publisher in the crane and access industries, Tim became managing director of IPAF in 2004 and has since helped spearhead the organisation's international growth.
